In advance of our February 2018 exhibition FAKE which looks at everything from biomimicry to forged documents, scandals to substitutes, curator Oron Catts joins us for a talk on the transformation of life forms that have been intentionally manipulated by humans into cultural objects.

This talk will probe this point in time, when biology is becoming an engineering pursuit, life becomes a raw material, and the biotech industry is aiming to develop consumer products; capturing the public imaginary with fantastic stories of hope and horror ushered by the new biological age. In the context of the up and coming FAKE exhibition at Science Gallery Dublin, Oron will explore how the different social contracts of science, engineering, art and design are been exploited to generate different narratives of the new ecology of the made and the grown.
